Healing with Heart

Brent's Story

Brent found more than oncology care at Oncura Health. He found connection, compassion, and a community that never let him feel alone.

“They’re helping heal my heart and my peace of mind.”

A Second Diagnosis, A Different Experience

Brent Moon had just received a second cancer diagnosis. He had been through treatment before, but that didn’t make the moment any easier. The fear, the uncertainty, the questions—it all came rushing back.

What he didn’t expect was how different this experience would feel.

“It’s hard to find doctors who actually want to heal you,” Brent shared.

His insurance guided him to Oncura Health. From the moment he arrived, something shifted.

“Ms. Lisa hugged me. Dr. Seneviratne made me feel like I was part of every decision. Nurse Rose didn’t just explain things. She made me feel held. That’s so beautiful.”

A Community That Shows Up

Brent describes his care as consistent, thoughtful, and deeply human—no matter which clinic he visited. Nurses remembered him. Staff checked in. Small details mattered.

But what stayed with him most was something unexpected.

“The infusion room became my Oncura family. No one was ever alone.”

He began bringing iced teas for others sitting nearby. Another patient brought coloring books, and together they passed the time.

“It became less about the sound of my chemo machine… and more about the sound of care.”

“These people held my hand. And they’re still holding it.”

Healing Without Losing Who You Are

Through it all, Brent never lost his personality.

“I’m smiley—like a cartoon character,” he said.

He brought donuts to appointments. He joked with staff. He showed up as himself.

And at Oncura Health, that wasn’t just accepted. It was encouraged.

“They let me heal how I needed to. I’m still here, still healing. But it’s different.”

For Anyone Just Beginning

When asked what he would say to someone newly diagnosed, Brent didn’t hesitate.

“I’d take them by their hand, go to 7-11, then bring them to Oncura Health and say, ‘Let’s get started.’”
